The Stafford Hill project in Rutland, Vermont, includes 7,700 solar panels that during full sun will provide electricity to about 2,000 homes.

It will include 4MW of battery storage that can generate clean electricity for an emergency shelter at a nearby high school and other critical infrastructure during electrical outages.

“With the frequency of major storms growing, this project is critical and demonstrates how Green Mountain Power is continuing to lead the way with innovative energy solutions to meet everyday challenges," says the utility’s chief executive Mary Powell.
