Chile creates small RE projects fund
Chile has made available $796,480 to finance small-scale renewable energy projects in rural, isolated and vulnerable regions of the country.
Individuals and cooperatives can apply for up to $51,000 to help finance power generation projects, research and development and training workshops.
President Michelle Bachelet’s center-left government wants to obtain 20% of the country’s power supply from renewable resources by 2025 versus 9% at present.
“The fund is a great opportunity for society to develop its own renewable energy projects based on its own, local energetic resources and necessities,” says Maria Paz de la Cruz, director of the government's Renewable Energy Center.
