Canadian Solar sells Ontario PV

A subsidiary of Canadian Solar has completed the sale of the 10MW (ac) Good Light solar PV project located in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, to BluEarth Renewables.

Canadian Solar did not provide financial details of the transaction. It says the facility is valued at more than C$66.0m ($60.3m).

Good Light is the second of four planned solar projects BluEarth is acquiring from Canadian Solar, totaling 38.5MW (ac). Canadian Solar is providing turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for all four projects, which are scheduled to fully enter service by third quarter 2015..

“Completing the Good Light project showcases Canadian Solar strength and position as a leading provider of solar energy solutions in Canada,” says Canadian Solar chief executive Shawn Qu.

Calgary-based BluEarth has set a target of having more than C$600m of high-quality, long-term contracted hydro, solar and wind assets online by the end of 2015.

In a separate release earlier today, Renewable Energy Systems Canada said it was selected by Canadian Solar to construct the 10MW (ac) Gold Light solar PV facility that BluEarth will also purchase.
