Tata gets 20MW ACME India order

Tata Power Solar will supply a 20MW PV project to be built by developer ACME Solar in the Rajasthan state, in the northwestern part of India.

The order is part of the second phase of the National Solar Mission (NSM) in the country and is one of the largest under the nation's Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) policy.

The modules will be manufactured at Tata's factory in Bangalore, where the company recently announced a 60% increase in module production capacity. The facility now has 200MW of module and 180MW of cell capacity.

ACME Solar, a three-way joint venture between ACME, EDF Energies Nouvelles and Luxembourg-based EREN group, won projects totalling 100MW, with 20MW of this under the DCR policy.

Under the DCR policy of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), a total of 375MW of PV plants have to be built using domestically-produced cells and modules, in a bid to promote manufacturing in the country.
