Avancis, which was set up as a 50-50 joint venture between the two companies in 2006, has an annual capacity of 20 MW in its plant in Torgau, Germany.
Saint-Gobain said it intends to speed up Avancis’ industrial development. It says that CIS thin-film requires “expertise in glass coating and in glass thermal treatment, two processes belonging to the core portfolio of Saint-Gobain, a worldwide leader in flat glass for the building and automotive industries.”
