“Despite the great recession of 2009, the US solar industry experienced its best year ever,” says Rhone Resch, president and chief executive of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), which issued its annual report Thursday.
The industry put in 481 megawatts (MW) of new photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power plants in 2009, bringing US solar electricity capacity to 2,108MW. US solar sales passed $4bn, he says.
