The California-based company says it will temporarily idle half of the 12 lines running at its Fab 2 cell-manufacturing plant and 20% of module capacity in the Philippines in order to “significantly reduce inventory, lower operational costs and improve efficiency”.
SunPower expects the “aggressive reorganisation plan” to cost it between $10m and $17m, most of which will be incurred in the fourth quarter.
