SMA aims to boost the share of foreign sales in its overall revenue to 80% this year, compared to 55% in 2011 and 45% the year prior, according to chief financial officer Pierre-Pascal Urbon.

SMA’s new export target underscores the desperation with which many PV companies are scrambling to distance themselves from the German market, following Berlin’s recent announcement that it will once again slash the solar feed-in tariff (FIT) sooner than expected and eliminate all support for projects larger than 10MW.
