The Korean-owned, China-based wafer, cell and module manufacturer’s net revenues jumped 33.4% from the previous quarter to 1.1bn yuan. It attributed the increase to higher module shipments.

SolarOne shipped PV panels to 23 countries during the quarter. It continued to diversify into new markets, including South Africa, in response to looming European import tariffs on Chinese PV kit.

“The proposed import tariff in the EU against solar products manufactured in China is an unfortunate process as it will ultimately harm competitive pricing in Europe, as well as hinder solar development through reduced project returns,” said Ki-Joon Hong, chief executive.
