Solarpack seals IDB Chile PV loans

Spain’s Solarpack has closed a deal with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the French financial institution Proparco, which will lend over $65m to finance two PV projects in Chile.

The Calama Solar 3 and Pozo Almonte solar plants, owned and developed by Solarpack, will have a total capacity of 26.5MW. They mark the first large-scale solar projects in the country.

Calama Solar 3 has a capacity of 1.1MW and has been up and running since April 2012. The Pozo Almonte plant, with a capacity of 25.4MW, is currently under construction and will be operational in October 2013.
