The California-based company has agreed with state economic development authorities on an investment package that could eventually reach $500m over six years. The state is providing $75m in loan assistance – to be repaid with interest – through an industry incentive fund. Other incentives include state and local tax breaks and workforce training.

The initial, $100m phase will see a production line built in about 300,000 square feet of an existing building that used to house a Sunbeam appliance factory, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
