The integrated PV manufacturer will impose “temporary” layoffs on 500 workers in Norway, with 300 to be affected at its wafer plant in Heroeya and 200 more at its cell plant in Narvik.
In addition, REC says it will not order any modules from third-party contractors.
The move is expected to reduce its third-quarter wafer production by 125MW – or 30% of the capacity expected to flow from Norway.
