The projects, which will help PG&E meet California’s 33% by 2020 renewable portfolio standard, were selected through the utility's 2011 solar PV solicitation.

The winners are Recurrent Energy, a unit of Sharp, which will build a 20MW project in Kings County; Westlands Solar Farms’ 18MW project in Fresno County; and a 12MW project in Kern County by Fotowatio Renewable Ventures.

The projects have 20-year power purchase agreements with PG&E and are targeted to begin in February 2013.
