Solarhybrid this week received preliminary planning approval for the €280m ($365m) project at the airfield at Neuhardenberg, Brandenburg.

The German developer expects to clear the site for construction work to begin by next July, with grid-connection scheduled for December 2012.

No details were given of technology suppliers to be used on the project.

Solarhybrid has built 218MW of PV at former air force bases in Germany since 2010 in conjunction with partner company Airport Development.
