Rome announced yesterday that the country’s €6bn ($7.3bn) annual cap on solar FIT expenditures had been exceeded, setting in motion a 45-day countdown until Conto Energia V goes into effect.

Last week Italy’s ministers of economy, environment and agriculture signed off on Conto Energia V. The new regulations include a variety of measures aimed at slowing and reshaping the nation's PV market, which connected a world-leading 9GW of new capacity to the grid in 2011.

Among
