A report in the Las Vegas Review Journal says the company was selling off equipment from the factory, which opened last spring with support from a federal clean energy manufacturing tax credit.
Amonix had made no public statements by late Wednesday and did not return enquiries from Recharge.
The company said in January that it was about to begin retooling the plant after having completed manufacturing of equipment for "the world's largest CPV project" -- probably a reference to the 30MW Cogentrix Energy Alamosa Solar plant in Colorado.
