T-Solar says it will spend $160m building the two arrays – one of them in El Centro, California, less than 10km from the Mexican border, and the other in the Puerto Rican municipality of San Germán.

Both projects are expected on line by the second half of 2013, and will generate an estimated 100GWh of electricity each year.

Madrid-based T-Solar is among the world’s largest independent solar-power producers, with 216MW of operational capacity under management across 45 ground-mounted arrays – more than two-thirds of them in Spain.
