The project, slated for installation on the outskirts of the capital city Quito, is expected to cost €100m ($127.4m), generate more than 84MWh of power each year, and benefit from a feed-in tariff introduced by the Ecuadorian government last year.

Although Isofoton has been present in Latin America for years, the Ecuador project represents a major step forward. Chief executive Ángel Luis Serrano says the project “reaffirms” the company’s pivot towards emerging markets, which "will lead the PV market in the next 10 years”.
