Sharp is sending an engineering team to Bali to carry out a feasibility study and plans to initially build a pilot plant with a capacity of up to 2MW.
The 100MW solar project would cost between $250m and $300m, says the Indonesian government’s renewable energy head, Kardaya Warnika.
The government also hopes to encourage domestic manufacturing to support the development of further solar projects in Indonesia.
