Amplio – which invests in a range of clean-tech sectors but has focused intensively on Italian solar over the past few years – managed to nail down €16m ($21m) from a “leading Italian bank” for the Lazio projects, despite dire conditions for financing.

Alberto Dalla Rosa, chief executive of Amplio’s solar arm, tells Recharge the arrays employ modules made by Spain’s Fluitecnik, as part of its framework agreement with Rios Renovables, which acted as engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
