Trina nets 200MW China PV deal

Trina Solar has signed a 200MW supply deal to equip projects being developed in China by Zonergy – marking the manufacturer’s biggest single order so far in 2014.

Jiangsu-based Trina will supply about 800,000 of its TSM-PC05A modules for Zonergy projects in provinces including Jiangsu itself, Shandong, Xinjiang, Qinghai and Sichuan.

The shipments are expected to be completed by the end of this year, said Trina, which signed a 60MW supply order in China in mid-June and a 100MW framework deal in May.

Zonergy deputy president Wuhua Zhang said: “We have a large pipeline planned in China for this and next year. We look forward to building a long-term, strategic partnership with Trina Solar and to realising Zonergy's success in downstream solar project development."

New York-listed Trina has emerged as one of the frontrunners among the Chinese PV groups that survived the industry shake-out and are now back in profitability – and in many cases thriving.

Trina in May posted its third straight quarter of profitability and guided for strong shipments in the just-ended second quarter.
