Global PV capacity breaks through 300GW barrier – BSW

Cumulative PV capacity world-wide has surpassed 300GW as some 70GW was added in 2016, led by new installations in China, the USA and Japan, Germany’s solar federation BSW Solar says, citing its own calculations.

“The usage of solar energy in many countries of the world has gained speed,” BSW managing director Carsten Körnig says.

“Globally, the thirst for energy is growing and more and more governments and investors opt for clean energy forms.”
