The US Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has named Abigail Ross Hopper its new chief executive, stressing the “bridge building” talents of a leader recruited from the agency that steers offshore wind development, as the renewables sector puzzles out its strategy under the incoming Trump administration.

Since early 2015 Hopper has helmed the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), a relatively new agency within the US Interior Department that manages development of the Outer Continental Shelf—including the country’s vast and untapped offshore wind resource.
