Italy’s Enel is fast becoming Brazil’s utility-scale solar PV pioneer as it steams ahead with the construction of what is set to be the country’s largest solar plant – the 254MW Ituverava array in the northeastern state of Bahia.

Ituverava will be the first to be ready of the 890MW of solar projects sold in the country's 2014 tender.

It may also be the only one, as most of the tender winners are seeking permission from the government to delay start-up from 2017 to 2019, or to scrap the PPA due to worsening macroeconomic conditions since the auction.
