German utility Innogy on 1 January 2017 will launch its new eMobility business unit with the aim to become a leading provider for charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EV’s) in Europe and the US.

Electric mobility is closely intertwined with renewable energy, as the increased usage of EV’s is likely to spur demand for green electricity, while the build-up of massive production capacity for lithium-ion batteries for EV’s is also believed to push down the price of solar storage systems.
