Norwegian energy giant Statoil is leading a trio of investors that has stumped up £8.1m ($10.3m) in equity to back next-generation solar power technology outfit Oxford Photovoltaics.

Investment by the group, which includes Legal & General Capital and an unnamed “technology-focused, innovative family fund investor”, adds to a £8.7m first tranche in funding secured in October by Oxford PV for its perovskite-based technology.
