Chile announced a raft of measures to solidify its growing solar leadership at the COP22 in Morocco this week, including plans to build a 1GW solar complex in the Atacama Desert and slash the price of solar to $20/MWh by 2025.

In ratifying Chile’s commitments for the Paris Agreement, President Michelle Bachelet reaffirmed the country's target to source 70% of its power from clean energy by 2050, and formalised the creation of the National Agency of Climate Change – an inter-ministerial body that will oversee Chile’s transition to a green economy.
