JA Solar to supply 420MW to China's 'Front Runner' programme

The first phase of the Front Runner programme will see 950MW of PV capacity installed across 13 separate power plants in Datong, Shanxi province, at an estimated cost of 10bn yuan ($1.6bn). JA’s modules will account for 40% of the total first-phase capacity.

A number of gigawatt-scale phases will follow within the Front Runner programme, JA says.

JA Solar – the world’s fourth largest module supplier last year – will provide modules to one 50MW array in which it is an investor, and 370MW more to six companies that are investing in various Front Runner projects: China Three Gorges Corporation; China Huadian Corporation; China Power Investment Corp.;
