This rapid expansion — from 227GW, or 2% of the world's energy today — will be driven primarily by cost reductions, according to Letting in the Light: How Solar Photovoltaics Will Revolutionize the Electricity System, released today at Intersolar Europe in Munich.
"Cost reductions for solar and wind will continue into the future, with further declines of up to 59% possible for solar PV in the next ten years," says Irena director-general Adnan Amin.
