implemented
“a
robust
certification”
policy
in
the
late
1990s
after
experiencing
quality
problems
from
“fly
by

operators
in
1994-96,
says
DV
Giri,
chairman
of
the
Indian
Wind
Turbine
Manufacturers
Association.
“The
government
stepped
in
with
a
list
of
recommended
machine
manufacturers
drawn
up
by
the
Centre
for
Wind

Technology
so
that
utilities
know
they
are
not
getting
bad
machines,”
he
says.
“This
is
unlike
what
has
happened
in
China,
where
we
have
heard
that
up
to
35%
of
machines
have
been
disconnected
from
the
grid
because
of
quality
issues.”
