Israel's EWP signs wave power deal with Chinese university

Israeli wave energy technology developer Eco Wave Power (EWP) has signed a deal with the Ocean University of China (OUC) that is expected to lead to the installation of large arrays of the company’s “wave-environment specific” devices along Chinese coastlines.

Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the government-owned OUC will secure full funding for EWP's first commercial scale project, while carrying out related R&D works at its facilities in the coastal city of Qingdao.

“The uniqueness of EWP is in its innovative idea to develop and implement different floaters’ shapes for every location,” says Merav Tapiero, programme manager for Israel-China industrial cooperation at the Israeli Industry Center for R&D.
