Scotland and UK inject $24m into wave and tidal technologies

The Scottish and UK governments have awarded grants totalling almost £15m ($23.8m) to spur development of a range of innovative wave- and tidal-power technology projects.

The Edinburgh government is awarding £8m to boost development testing of five new wave and tidal prototypes, listed here, as part of the second round of its WATERS support scheme.

The UK Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and Scottish Enterprise have doled out some £6.5m under the Marine Energy – Supporting Array Technologies (MESAT) programme.

The MESAT money will go to CC Hydrosonics, IT Power, Mojo Maritime, SSE Renewables, Tension Technology International, Tidal Generation and TidalStream.
