new
development
will
incorporate
the
European
Marine
Energy
Centre
(Emec),
where
front-running
devices
–
including
wave
machines
such
as
the
Pelamis
P2
and
Aquamarine
Power’s
Oyster,
and
Andritz
Hydro
Hammerfest’s
HS1000
tidal
turbine
–
are
being
run
in
nine
of
the
facility’s
14
full-scale
test
berths.
The
site
is
in
a
swathe
of
water
that
overlaps
the
world’s
first
commercial-scale
leasing
round
for
marine
energy.
The
UK
Crown
Estate
in
2010
awarded
eleven
development
companies
leases
that
could
ultimately
generate
some
1.6GW
(600MW
from
wave
and
1GW
from
tidal-stream)
–
enough
electricity…
