Scotland-based
Emec
will
work
with
Oregon
Wave
Energy
Trust
(OWET)
and
the
Northwest
National
Marine
Renewable
Energy
Centre
(NNMREC)
on
the
initiative.
Under
the
collaborative
deal,
NNMREC’s
Pacific
Marine
Energy
Centre
(PMEC)
will
be
developed
into
a
grid-connected
ocean
test
facility
for
prototype
and
commercial-scale
devices.
It
is
hoped
this
will
help
to
remove
a
major
barrier
to
the
development
of
marine-energy
technology
in
the
US
by
providing
the
region's
first
standardised
testing
facilities
with
“real-world”
conditions.
PMEC
will
offer
four
test
berths
tied-back
to
the
regional
grid,
each
with
capacity
