UK Crown Estate awards trio of new wave and tidal leases

Tidal Energy was one of the technology developers to secure a lease

The UK Crown Estate has set the seal on three further leases for wave and tidal energy projects in Britain’s waters.

Voith Hydro Wavegen has secured acreage off Scotland’s Western Isles for its Siadar development, while Tidal Energy has been awarded rights to deploy at a location off St David’s Head in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Pulse Tidal secured a site off Lynmouth in Devon, southern England.

The agreements clear the way for the developers to move ahead with project plans, including consultations with local stakeholders and finalising applications to obtain consents from government bodies Marine Scotland and the Marine Management Organisation.
