Scotland stumps up $9.5m more to nurture wave and tidal

Aquamarine Power was one of the innovators helped under Waters

Scotland will release another £6m ($9.5m) in funding for the development of marine renewable technologies.

Development agency Scottish Enterprise is inviting bids for the cash under the Waters 2 programme to help testing of wave and tidal-energy systems.

The first round of Waters funding included support for marine energy innovators such as Aquamarine Power, Open Hydro and AWS Ocean Energy.

The initiative aims to speed the deployment of commercially-viable marine renewables technologies in Scottish waters.
