Alstom to supply Brookfield's small hydro plants

Alstom has signed contracts with Brookfield Renewable Power to supply small hydro plant equipment for projects in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The contracts are part of Brookfield’s plans to install between 100MW and 150 MW of small hydro plants in each of the next five years.

Alstom’s scope of supply for the Pezzi and Serra dos Cavalinhos II small hydro plants includes two Kaplan “S” turbines, two generators, two speed controllers, two voltage regulators, and the assembly and commissioning supervision of this equipment. Alstom’s Kaplan “S” turbines are specifically developed to fit small hydro needs, combining cost effectiveness with efficiency, flexibility, reliability and high annual production, according to Alstom.
