Carnegie Wave Energy of Australia has deployed a wave-monitoring buoy off Bermuda’s south coast in conjunction with local partner Triton Renewable Energy.
The two companies will use the data gathered over the next year to assess the feasibility of a full scale 20MW wave energy plant for the island.
The monitoring programme will give the first direct measurement of the wave resource available off Bermuda, say the partners.
