First project using Alstom ECO110 turbines goes live

The first wind farm made up of Alstom’s high-yield ECO110 turbines has been inaugurated in northwest France.

GDF Suez’s Landes de Couesmé development, located in Morbihan, Brittany, features 11 of the 3MW machines, which are designed for Class II – 8.5 metres per second – wind speeds in densely populated areas or sites with limited space.

The 110-metre-diameter-rotor turbines are outfitted with Alstom’s Pure Torque technology to divert loads away from the drive-train and use a nacelle designed to ease access for maintenance and repair operations.

“With an increased power yield compared to the other models, the ECO110 limits the environmental impact. For example, an equivalent project with 2MW turbines Log in to read complete article.
