Turbine trials loom after self-installing met-mast success

The impressive performance of a prototype self-installing jacket — supporting an E.ON met mast in the Baltic Sea — has sped up plans for its use as a wind turbine foundation.

Negotiations are at an “advanced stage” between designer MarCon and an as-yet-unnamed developer for a multiple unit delivery by spring 2013, while the contractor’s three-legged MWP Mk2 concept has also been prequalified for a demonstrator installation on one of the UK Round 3 zones.
