GE unwraps wind-powered electric vehicle charge station

GE has unveiled what it claims is the world’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging station directly linked to wind power.

The US industrial giant and partner Urban Green Energy (UGE) installed the first Sanya Skypump at a site in Barcelona, Spain – a major global hotbed of electric mobility development.

The design combines GE's EV fast-charging technology with a UGE 4kW vertical-axis wind turbine, with all electrical systems integrated within the tower.

The partners say further Sanya Skypumps will be installed later this year at locations including shopping malls and universities in the US and Australia.
