technology,
which
focuses
incoming
sunlight
through
embossed
silicon
optics
onto
minute
cells
that
are
fabricated
using
a
novel
micro-transfer
printing
process,
has
been
shown
to
have
efficiencies
twice
those
of
conventional
monocrystalline
silicon
and
triple
those
of
thin-film.
The
companies
are
finishing
the
development
phase,
with
the
first
reference
installation
expected
in
2013-14.
Utility-size
developments
of
up
to
100MW
are
slated
to
follow,
with
construction
of
flagship
gigawatt-scale
plants
planned
after
2017.
