Bob Hertzberg: From politics in California to solar in Wales

After weeks of shivering through an unseasonably cold spring, Londoners suddenly found themselves in sweltering high summer on the day Recharge met Bob Hertzberg.

The outbreak of sunshine was something of a metaphor for how things are panning out for the California co-founder of G24 Innovations (G24i), who, after six years developing his wafer-thin dye-sensitised solar cell (DSSC) technology at a factory in Wales, has finally achieved commercial breakthrough.

The day before, he had inked a deal with computer peripherals company Logitech for G24i solar cells to power the keyboard and the Bluetooth technology that connects it to the Apple iPad.
