New York State funds solar and wind testing facilities

New York has awarded $4.2m to Intertek Group of the UK to open testing laboratories for wind turbine blades and solar components as part of a broader public-private partnership to promote renewable energy development and investment in the state.

The blade testing lab will be located at Clarkson University, a private engineering school located in northern New York State. Intertek will locate the solar testing lab, the first on the US East Coast, at its campus in Cortland south of Syracuse.

Intertek , based in London, is a leading global provider of quality assurance testing and certification.

Intertek is partnering with Clarkson, AWS Truepower, Alfred State College, Binghamton University and Rochester Institute of Technology, to form the Center for Evaluation of Clean Energy Technology (CeCeT).
