EWEA names former Danish energy official as new CEO

The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) has appointed Thomas Becker as its new chief executive.

Becker, formerly a deputy permanent secretary at the Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy, will join the wind industry body in April 2013, moving from tyre recycling group Genan where he is chief executive.

Becker replaces outgoing EWEA chief executive Christian Kjaer, who held the post for seven years.

EWEA says its new boss has “long standing experience in international negotiations in the EU, UN, OECD and the IEA”.
