GE, two others invest $247m in Wind Capital's Kansas project

A unit of General Electric, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Union Bank have invested nearly $247m in Wind Capital Group’s recently commissioned 201MW Post Rock wind farm in south-central Kansas.

Additional details of the transaction were not disclosed. Wind Capital Group, based in Chicago and formed in 2005, is owned by Ireland’s NTR plc .

“Support from this group of investors has been critical to the success of Post Rock and underscores the importance and commercial viability of renewable energy projects,” says NTR chief executive Michael McNicholas. “This is an important milestone for Wind Capital Group, and for NTR, which has identified renewable energy as core to our future growth strategy.”
