Investors fear 'Tea Party' sceptics, says UK climate secretary

The UK’s energy and climate change secretary says potential renewables investors are taking fright because of splits within the country’s governing parties over its environmental agenda.

Ed Davey – a member of the coalition government’s minority Liberal Democrat faction – claims a “Tea Party tendency” among its Conservative partners is undermining investment confidence because of its opposition to green-friendly policies.

The UK has recently faced criticism from renewables industry figures that it has not done enough to reassure investors contemplating major spending on infrastructure projects – particularly in the offshore wind sector.
