Changes at the top of consultancy GL Garrad Hassan

Renewable energy consultancy GL Garrad Hassan has announced a change at the top of its management team, with Andrew Garrad handing over the operational reins to newly-appointed president RV Ahilan.

Ahilan takes up his new post in mid-October in a move from GL Noble Denton, the GL Group's oil and gas division. He will also run its third-party certification body GL Renewables Certification.

Garrad – who co-founded the Garrad Hassan consultancy in 1984 – will become non-executive chairman of GL Group’s renewable energy division, with a focus on strategy.

GL Garrad Hassan was formed in 2009 when the UK consultancy merged with German consulting and engineering giant Germanischer Lloyd.

The GL renewables business employs more than 1,000 people worldwide.
