UK's SSE to sell 295MW Swedish onshore wind pipeline

SSE has announced plans to sell off its 295MW pipeline of onshore wind projects in Sweden and ruled out any new biomass co-firing at its British coal plants, as it tightens its focus to align with Europe’s fast-evolving energy market.

In the six months to 30 September, adjusted post-tax profits at SSE soared 41.7% to £333.5m ($530m) – a performance that masks the steep challenges the UK’s second largest energy supplier faces in adjusting its generation portfolio for the years ahead.

Strong growth at SSE’s transmission, distribution and retail units more than offset a sharp decline in operating profit at the utility’s generation business.
