Detroit official to take over as president of Vestas Americas

Wind equipment group Vestas has hired a senior municipal official from Detroit to be the new president of Vestas Americas.

Chris Brown will replace Martha Wyrsch, who decided to leave the company early next month after three years, says Vestas.

Brown, 52, joins the Danish group from the City of Detroit, where he was chief operating officer.

He has a long background in the energy industry, including the offshore wind sector, and has worked in senior roles for US and international utilities.

Brown joins Vestas as it undergoes a major cost-reduction programme, not least in the US where the wind sector is facing a downturn due to regulatory uncertainty.
